1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how gunimuni ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your data when you use our mobile application, our website, and related support services. We are committed to maintaining the integrity and privacy of your sentimental records through rigorous data protection standards.

2. Data We Collect

To provide our specialized camera and vault services, we may collect the following information:

  • Account Information: Your name and email address.

  • Authentication Data: Login and account authentication are handled through Firebase Authentication and supported sign-in providers such as Google Sign-In.

  • Biometric Access: If you enable device-based remembered login, the app may use secure local storage and biometric authentication supported by your device.

  • Camera & Photo Data: We request camera access so you can capture images inside the app.

  • Images Metadata: Captured images may include metadata such as capture date, roll association, and location coordinates if location permission is granted.

  • Local Device Storage: Images may be stored temporarily in the app’s private storage (sandbox) before upload.

  • Cloud Storage: Images and related roll records are uploaded to our cloud infrastructure using Firebase and Google Cloud services.

  • In-App Purchases: Purchase transactions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and we do not store your payment card details. 

  • Diagnostic Information: Basic error logs and request metadata required to maintain service uptime and resolve technical "defects."

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to operate and improve the gunimuni ecosystem, specifically to:

  • Create and manage your secure account and authentication via Firebase.

  • Synchronize your camera rolls and capture data across your authorized devices.

  • Provide location-based tagging for your images, provided you have granted the necessary permissions.

  • Respond to support requests and communicate essential service-related updates.

  • Protect the platform against unauthorized access, abuse, or service disruptions.

  • Ensure the integrity of the "ID Burner" watermarking process.

4. Images, Processing, and Content Standards

  • 4.1 Private Storage: Unlike standard camera apps, images captured within gunimuni are isolated from your public gallery. They are transmitted securely and stored using infrastructure provided by the Google Cloud Platform.

  • 4.2 User Ownership: You retain full ownership of all content captured. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right and consent to photograph your subjects.

  • 4.3 Content Privacy: gunimuni is designed as a private utility. We do not perform automated screening, active monitoring, or manual reviews of your images. Your vault remains private to your account. However, we maintain exceptions to this policy as outlined in section 4.4

    • User-Initiated Fulfillment: Access required to process physical print orders as detailed in Section 4.4.

    • Legal Compliance: Actions required by a valid legal warrant or to act upon verified reports of prohibited content (e.g., illegal surveillance or harassment).

  • 4.4 Physical Print Fulfillment: When you place an order for physical prints, you grant gunimuni and its authorized personnel temporary, limited license to access and process the selected images. This access is strictly confined to the images required for your order.

  • 4.5 Prohibited Content: We maintain a Zero-Tolerance Policy for illegal content. While we do not proactively scan private vaults, we will take immediate action (including account termination and reporting to the Philippine National Police) if a violation is reported or required by a valid legal warrant.

5. Login Security

Authentication is managed through Firebase Authentication and platform-specific sign-in providers. We do not personally manage or store your passwords. Account recovery and password resets are handled via the secure protocols of these third-party providers.

6. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with trusted service providers (e.g., Google Cloud, Firebase) necessary to host our infrastructure or process transactions. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or a valid government request.

7. Data Retention

We retain account and capture data for as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. Temporary diagnostic records are invalidated automatically upon expiration.

8. Your Rights and Choices

In compliance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, you have the following rights:

  • Account Deletion: You may initiate the permanent deletion of your account and all associated data directly through the Settings menu within the app.

  • Location Permissions: You may opt-out of location metadata collection at any time through your device settings; however, this may disable certain tagging features within the app.

  • Access & Updates: You may request updates to your account information via your registered email.

  • Service Cessation: You may stop using the app at any time; however, we recommend exporting your data (if applicable) before initiating a deletion request.

9. Children’s Privacy

gunimuni is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware of such data collection, we will take immediate steps to delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Your continued use of gunimuni after changes take effect constitutes your agreement to the updated terms.
